Homeschool Service Project (2012-13)

July 16, 2012

If you have listened to the radio show for any length of time, you know that I homeschool my three children. Each year we engage in a service project benefiting a cause or organization or cause we believe in deeply.

Faithful readers of this blog or my homeschool blog know, my two youngest joined our family via adoption 5 years ago (this month!). The agency through which we adopted them has an ongoing call for UPC codes of various products as well as participating in the Box Tops For Education program.

This year (and after, really, though we will do other service projects in addition in future years), we have chosen to assist them in this effort. They have already been successful in obtaining items like a refrigerator for a foster family in need of a new one, and other necessities.

James 1:27 says:

Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.

Our children feel incredibly blessed to have been so well-cared for, and to have found their “forever family” through their agency friends. Please consider helping us?

Our Homeschool Service Project PDF gives you all of the pertinent information (what products we need, what to clip, as well as links to specific product brands and coupons!).

We thank you in advance for helping deserving children and their caregivers!

I love the idea of doing a service project like this. I would love to have my kids go volunteer at a dual diagnosis treatment center. I have a brother who is in one of these centers and I think it would be good for my older kids to understand it a little better. Thank you for the great idea!
